H&H Group and Swisse Italy’s Commitment to the Planet

As part of our global mission to inspire wellness and make millions of people healthier and happier, we are committed to making a positive contribution to the needs of society and the planet.

Our commitment to sustainability is an integral part of everything we do, and all members of the H&H Group understand they have a role to play in this important journey.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, RENEWABLE ENERGY, and PLASTIC REDUCTION IN PACKAGING are the main areas we have chosen to dedicate ourselves to with passion, each covering a critical field where we believe our actions can make a tangible difference in the world.

It is important to note that our sustainability journey is one of 'action learning': we learn as we go and understand how we can improve step by step while moving forward with determination and optimism.

Our Commitment to Social Responsibility

Honoring Human Rights and Equity as the Foundation of Health and Happiness

We strive to ensure that people affected by our activities are guaranteed basic rights and fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitled. We respect and value human life in our workplaces. We implement formal and informal structures to reduce inequalities and eliminate discrimination.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION. Promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion has always been important, but in recent years it has become a cornerstone for the H&H Group. Our Australia and New Zealand regions have led the way by establishing a committee of passionate members to support our progress in this area. This committee is called 'CLEW,' which stands for 'Celebrate Life Every Way,' and it is linked to our core value 'Celebrate Life Every Day.' CLEW is made up of 26 team members who have volunteered to help promote our culture of diversity and inclusion (D&I). There are six sub-pillars the team focuses on, and there is a strategy and roadmap to improve each pillar. Australia and New Zealand will share their learnings with all other regions, and throughout 2023 we will establish a D&I approach and goal that will then be adapted to the local market to ensure relevance.

Our Commitment to Renewable Energy

Covering 100% of electricity consumption at our owned facilities with electricity from renewable sources.

We use resources efficiently and take action on climate change to preserve our environment for future generations.

ENERGY, EMISSIONS, AND CLIMATE. As a Group, we are determined to play our role in the transition to a global low-carbon economy. Since 2017, we have been assessing our carbon footprint at the Group level and making informed decisions to reduce our emissions and offset those we cannot immediately reduce. In this regard, in January 2022, we joined the Climate Ambition Accelerator (a program that prepares companies to measure their greenhouse gas emissions, set ambitious reduction targets, and report on progress) led by the United Nations Global Compact, while in 2022, 100% of our electricity consumption at our owned facilities was covered by electricity from renewable sources. Today, we aim to adopt a science-based approach through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which shows companies how and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change**) to clearly define our plan to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement***.

Our Commitment to Reducing Plastic in Packaging

By reducing the size of our packaging, we have decreased plastic usage by between 14% and 26% compared to bottles with equivalent content.

Let's be clear: we know that some of our current products are packaged in plastic. While this makes them lighter and more durable, thus reducing the environmental footprint of shipping, we also understand that it has some drawbacks in terms of sustainability.

RAW MATERIALS, RESOURCES, AND PACKAGING. Consequently, we are working hard to reduce the amount of materials we use in order to minimize the environmental impact of both the primary and secondary packaging of our products, and where possible, also the packaging we use for shipments. We have already implemented some initiatives, such as reducing the size of jars, which will lead to a reduction in the amount of plastic used (from 15.2 g to 11.2 g of plastic per jar), and reducing the size of cardboard boxes (from 96 mm to 80 mm in height per box), which will result in less paper material used. By reducing the amount of raw materials used, we can ensure that the amount of plastic to be recycled will be lower than before because the bottles produced will be smaller. A practical example of this commitment is the creation of the first reduced-size packaging: for Swisse Strong Hair for Women and Swisse Strong Hair for Men, we have reduced the size of both packages, thus decreasing both the amount of plastic and cardboard used compared to bottles and boxes with equivalent content. So, the packaging sizes change, but the quality and quantity of the products remain unchanged!

In line with our values and mission, we are on the right path to fulfilling our commitment to be the change we seek in the world and to use business as a force for good.

H&H STANDS FOR ‘HEALTH & HAPPINESS’, WHICH MEANS HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

IT'S IN OUR NAME.

IT'S IN OUR DAILY LIFE.

IT'S IN EVERYTHING WE DO.
