How to have healthy hair even in autumn: 6 basic rules for every day

A mini guide to beauty gestures for thick, shiny hair despite the occasional hair loss typical of the season

There is no point in excessively fearing the change of season and the occasional hair loss: we are talking about an extremely important moment in which the "damage" suffered by our hair during the summer due to sand, wind, salt, too frequent washing and excessively tight elastic bands is "contained" and the more fragile and stressed hair gives way to new, younger, stronger and shinier stems.

Here are some practical tips to help our hair stay healthy and...vital.

1- Regular and gentle cleansing

To show off a thick and shiny hair and a healthy scalp, it is necessary that our hair is constantly washed with a delicate shampoo specifically designed for our type of skin (dry or oily) or hair (for example "mixed" hair). How often is it necessary to take care of cleansing? The most frequent question that is asked to dermatologists, as often happens, unfortunately does not have a valid answer for everyone.

2- Never without massage

Shampoo alone is not able to give new “tone” to hair and scalp: what you need is a nice invigorating and energizing massage that is at the same time extremely delicate. Curious to discover the right moves? Keep your hands and fingers open like a spider on your head and make small circular movements with all your fingertips mimicking the gesture of moving the scalp. In this way, the microcirculation will benefit without the risk of excessive stimulation of the sebaceous glands that would lead to the production of excess sebum.

3- Shampoo only on the roots

Do you want to know another secret for healthy, flowing hair? Shampoo should be applied only and exclusively to the roots and never to the ends, for which the mix of water and “excess” product is sufficient, from which they are reached during the rinsing phase. To obtain more shine, and avoid excessive dryness, instead finish the wash with a jet of cold water. A very simple gesture that helps reactivate blood circulation, which is the basis of the oxygen supply to the scalp and hair.

4- Comb and brush only with dry hair

Combing wet hair is never a good idea, the risk of breakage is much higher than when it is dry: in fact, try to imagine wet hair as a sort of loose elastic that should never be excessively stressed. It is much better to untangle your hair in the morning, in the evening and before each wash, you will thus avoid a good part of the knots that naturally form by rubbing tangled locks during shampooing.

As for choosing the best tool to use, focus on a soft brush made of nylon fibers and pass it through your hair with a movement that starts from the roots and goes down to the ends. This way you can free the follicles from impurities (especially in the evening after a day spent away from home between work and social commitments) and distribute the natural oils along the entire length of the hair.

5- Food supplements

A correct diet is essential for the beauty and shine of the hair. In some cases we can ask our doctor or pharmacist for advice for further help through food supplements. What are the most effective components to look for on the label? Certainly the vitamins and minerals that help in the formation of keratin, the primary protein of nails and hair.

6- Help from cosmetics

One last tip concerns drying: it is a fact that the hair dryer, jets of air or contact with surfaces that are too hot in general dry the hair excessively. Therefore, help yourself with a microfiber cloth that can absorb as much water as possible to reduce the time you use certain drying tools and then apply a heat-protective spray (serum or cream) from the roots to the ends so that you can be free to use a straightener or curling iron without too many worries.

Caution: It is always good to keep in mind that supplements should never be considered as substitutes for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
